Angel Manuel Velez, 60, Enjoyed Spending Time With Family
Angel Manuel Velez, 60, of Lorain passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 in Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon following a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 10, 1957 in Lorain to Antonio and Julia (née Silva) Velez, where he has been a lifelong resident. Angel graduated from Southview High School in 1976. He worked for many years at May Company and Kmart.
Angel loved spending time with his family members who were very important to him. He also enjoyed reading the Bible, watching movies, playing card games, bingo, listening to Spanish music, putting together puzzles, rebuilding bicycles and collecting sports cards. Angel also volunteered his time as a big brother to several foster children.
Angel is survived by his father, Antonio Velez of Lorain; siblings, Joe (Sandra) Velez, Letisia (Pepe) Ruiz, Zenaida (Saul) Rodriguez, all of Lorain, Elmer (Laura) Velez of Huron, and Noraidia (Ron) Hodges of Sheffield Village; nieces and nephews, Amy Velez, Jennifer (Ernesto) Hernandez, Stephanie (Jeff) Cornute, Angela (Alberto) Rosario, Natasha (Jon) Guerrieri, Anthony (Akeea) Hodges, Rebecca (Ivan Holmes) Hodges, Joshua Velez, and Tyler Velez; and great nieces and nephews, Anthony Alloway, Kendra Matthews, Melania Cornute, Alyvia Cornute, and Alexander Rosario.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Velez and his sister, Judith Velez.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
His family suggests contributions to the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
