Kathleen Wood, 77, Enjoyed Casino Junkets

Born in Lorain on March 1, 1940, Katie had been a resident of Elyria for the past thirteen years.

She was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary High School and went on to attend Kent State University.

Katie was formerly employed as a teller for the Kansas Avenue branch of Lorain National Bank.

A member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, she possessed a deep dedication to her faith as evidenced by her regular attendance at daily Mass and unwavering completion of devotional prayers.

She was a long-time volunteer at both St. Joseph Hospital and Mercy Regional Medical Center. In her free time Katie enjoyed casino junkets as well as focusing on her personal health and fitness.

She is survived by daughters Suzanne Strader (James) of Henrietta Township, Christine Kowalski (Kenneth) of North Ridgeville, and Stephanie Selloni of Westchester County, New York, along with her son Adam V. Wood, Jr. residing in Dallas, Texas. Katie also leaves grandchildren Dylan Srawley, Michael & Alyssa Kowalski, Gabriella and Alexandria Selloni, and Gwendolyn and Isabella Wood, along with her brother Thomas (Joanne) Conley of Sheffield Lake and sister Eileen Conley of Elyria.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband Adam V. “Butch” Wood, Sr., infant son Anthony, grandson Johnny Srawley, parents Joseph and Helen (nee Walsh) Conley, brother Gerald Conley, and sister Maurita Caruso.

Visitation will be today (Tuesday) from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Frances Cabrini Parish – 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of the parish will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
