Franklin J. Leshinski, 84, U.S. Army Veteran

Born in Lorain on January 16, 1933, he had been a life-long resident of the city.

Mr. Leshinski was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a forty-five year employee of the Columbia Gas Company; at the time of his retirement, Frank served as a dispatcher there.

A life-long parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Lorain, Frank was regarded as a “people person”. He enjoyed watching televised high school and college football games in his free time as well as exploring the many fine eateries in and around greater Lorain.

He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Bertha “Bert” (nee Ryan) along with brothers Stanley and Allen both of Lorain, sister Marcella Grumbos also of Lorain, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Ignatius and Wanda (nee Habant) Leshinski, by brothers Edward and John, and sisters Virginia Kudlo, Frances Brumback, Irene Racz, Marian Hughes, Theresa Sorok, Florence Horinek, Lucille Waldecki, and Dorothy Majer.

Visitation will be Sunday December 10th from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin there Monday December 11th at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church – 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Robert Glepko, pastor of the parish will officiate. Entombment of Frank’s cremated remains will take place later in Calvary Cemetery.
