Stanley E. Phillips, 70, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Stanley E. “Stan” Phillips, 70, of Avon Lake, died Wednesday January 3, 2018 at University Hospital in Cleveland after a brief illness.

He was born September 27, 1947 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Avon Lake/Avon/Lorain area resident.

Stan served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He worked at US Steel in Lorain retiring in 2010.

Stan was a life member of AMVETS and VFW and a member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain. He was an animal lover and dedicated to his pets.

He is survived by his sister Kathy Bidefeld (Branko) of Kennesaw, Georgia, nephew Seth Ford (Jessica) of Marietta, Georgia, niece Erin Gilley (Blake) of Roswell, Georgia; great nieces Mary Elizabeth Ford and Victoria Rose Ford and a great group of close knit friends that were always there for him. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Marie Phillips and parents Sidney & Elizabeth Phillips (nee Abrahamowicz).

Private family funeral services were held at the Gluvna-Shimo- Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Burial was in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
