Phyllis A. Muzick, 88, Devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother
Phyllis A. Muzick (nee Januszewski),88, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Elyria surrounded by loved ones on January 13, 2018.
Phyllis as born on March 20, 1929 in Lorain, Ohio to Felix and Alexandra (née Kulas) Januszewski. She
attended Washington Ave. School, Nativity School, Boone School and Hawthorne School for grades K-8,
before graduating from Lorain High School.
After graduation, she worked at Rudy Moc Studio, Ridge Tool Company, Perry Faye Company, Stove Works and Bendix.
Phyllis married her late husband, John, on October 21, 1950. Shortly after, they started several small businesses: M&M Improvement Company and Payne Co. Tool & Machine Dye; John and Phyllis also owned and operated several apartment complexes across the Lorain and Elyria area.
While working, Phyllis raised five children and served as president of the Ladies Guild at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Parish in Lorain, Ohio for seven years.
She also enjoyed painting, working with ceramics and cooking.
Phyllis and John loved to travel the world. During their travels, the couple visited England, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Israel, Canada, Mexico, Aruba, Greece, Germany, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Romania, Russia, and nations previously known as Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. They also visited 38 of the 50 United States, including Hawaii.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband John, and sisters Virginia Partyka and Alice Salasovich. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Koperdak and her children Jayne Zehngut, John Muzick, AnnaMarie (Martin) O'Brien, Felix Muzick, Constance (Robert) Palazzolo and grandchildren Michael, John, Eric, Anthony and Nicholas.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday January 16 th from 3-7 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo- Hromada Funeral Home, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where the Parastas services will be observed at 6:00 p.m.
The St. Nicholas Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary immediately following the Parastas to conclude the visitation. Funeral services will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17th in the funeral home. The Divine Liturgy is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Parish, 2711 West 40th Street Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
