Beverly Ann Smith, Avid Cleveland Browns Fan

Photo of Beverly Ann Smith Beverly Ann Smith (nee Bair), passed away at Avon Oaks Nursing Home on the evening of February 14, 2018 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio and lived the majority of her life in Lorain. She was a 1951 graduate of Lorain High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

Beverly roller skated competitively with her husband, Earl, prior to their marriage in 1957. She was employed at Ford Motor Company’s Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio retiring in 1998. She was very active in her union, U.A.W. Local 2000, and worked as Benefits Rep prior to her retirement. She also wrote for the U.A.W. publication The Van Guard.

She was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and was well liked and loved by family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years Earl Smith, daughters Ann Smith Horta, Lisa Marino (Chuck), Monica Jurczynski (Rick), Amy Coleman (Gary), and son Leonard Smith (Jennifer). Additional survivors include grandchildren Elizabeth, Timothy, Chris, Patrick, Morgan, Aiden, and Connor, along with brothers Robert Gordon Bair, Charles Bair, and Donald Bair.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Frances (nee Blake) Bair, sisters Betty, Jean, Wanda, and Joyce, and granddaughters Jordan and Dana.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in St. Peter Parish – 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Please meet at church. Reverend Craig Hovanec will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
