Dorothy A. Mihalik, 83, Enjoyed Spending Time with Her Granddaughters

Photo of Dorothy A. Mihalik Dorothy A. Mihalik (nee Olszewski), 83, of Lorain, died Wednesday February 28, 2018 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.

She was born November 10, 1934 in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania and moved to Elyria when she was six years old.

Dorothy graduated from Elyria High School in 1952 where she was a member of the band, choir and National Honor Society.

She worked for General Motors in Elyria for 13 years and retired from Moen Inc in Elyria after 20 years.

Dorothy was a life member of AMVETS Post #47 Ladies Auxiliary, member of VFW Post #451 Ladies Auxiliary, United Polish Club Ladies Auxiliary and the American Slovak Ladies Auxiliary where she served as auditor for many years and secretary. She was a former member of the Knights of St. John Drill Team, member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and a current member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters Hillary and Alaina.

She is survived by her son Steve Mihalik (Jill nee Warrer) of Avon, daughter-in-law Karen Mihalik (nee Joyce) of Westlake; granddaughters Hillary and Alaina Mihalik and sister Carol Kneip of North Ridgeville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Andrew J. Mihalik on June 6, 2010, son Mark Mihalik on September 10, 2015 and parents Walter and Bertha Olszewski (nee Bajgier).

The family will receive friends Sunday March 3rd from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday March 4th at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Chuck Behrens, chaplain with Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
