Lilo P. Resendez, 91, U.S. Army Veteran
Lilo P. Resendez, 91, of Lorain, died Friday April 20, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.
He was born July 27, 1926 in Trinidad, Texas and had resided in Lorain since 1949.
Lilo served with the US Army during World War II. He worked at US Steel in Lorain in the Coke Plant as a Relief Foreman retiring in 1987 after 35 years.
He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, SOAR, the Guadalupe Society and Mexican American Citizens Club, all of Lorain.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, yardwork and was an avid baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Dolores Resendez (nee Sanchez), daughter Carol Rezaian (Khalil), son Rich Resendez (Lori); grandchildren: Kristi Dubinsky, Camille Dowe, Tony Resendez, Michelle Hetzner and Corey Resendez; great grandchildren: Ben Dubinsky, Noah Dubinsky and Grace Resendez; brothers: Lupe Resendez and Ignacio Resendez and sisters Virginia Talbot and Juanita Aguilar. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose & Otilia Resendez (nee Perez) and siblings Raul Resendez, Henry Resendez, David Resendez, Joe Resendez, Raymond Resendez and Toni Herrera.
The family will receive friends Sunday April 22nd from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday April 23rd at 10:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain. The Rev. John Retar, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
