Verda Engle, 92, Enjoyed Watching Game Shows and Being with Her Family
Verda “Marie” Engle (nee Simpson), 92, of Lorain, went to be with our Lord on Friday April 20, 2018 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home in Avon after a lengthy illness.
She was born December 25, 1925 in Harlan County, Kentucky and had resided in Lorain since 1952.
Marie was a member of Sheffield Church of God in Sheffield Village. She enjoyed spending her time watching television game shows and being with her family.
She is survived by her sons: Jesse (Alice), William (Alice), Rodger (Karen), James (Gabriele) and David (Davonne); daughters Phyllis Henderson (Barry) and Donna Sue; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years Jesse in 1993, daughter Wanda in 2005, son George in 2017, parents Henry and Delia Simpson (nee Sullivan) and 5 brothers and 1 sister.
The family will receive friends Monday April 23rd from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 24th at 12:00 pm in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Scott Skeens, pastor of Sheffield Church of God, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
