Katherine M. Gargalianos, 90, Enjoyed Greek Dancing and Singing
Katherine M. Gargalianos (nee Mormanis), 90, of Lorain, died Saturday April 21, 2018 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
She was born March 3, 1928 in Wheeling, West Virginia and had resided in Lorain since 1953.
Katherine was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain for over 65 years, sang in the church choir for over 50 years and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and the Women’s Philoptochos Society. She enjoyed Greek dancing, singing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons: Angelo Lee Gargalianos (Patricia) of Lorain, Pete Gargalianos (Darlene) of Elyria and Steven Gargalianos (Michele) of Akron; daughter Patricia Gargalianos of Avon; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Gus Gargalianos on October 1, 1994, parents Peter and Paulene Mormanis (nee Vassilou) and 4 brothers.
The family will receive friends Tuesday April 24th from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where Trisayion Prayer Services will be held Tuesday at 7:45 pm. Additional viewing will be held on Wednesday April 25th from 10:30 am until the time of the Divine Liturgy at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd, Lorain. The Rev. Protopresbyter Michael C. Gulgas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
