Mary M. Murphy, 87, Enjoyed Sewing and Crochet
Mary M. Murphy, (nee Mucha), age 87, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday May 3, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky following a brief illness.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario Canada on June 25, 1930, Mary had been a resident of Lorain since the age of sixteen.
She was employed as a waitress for a number of area restaurants including Howard Johnson’s, McGarvey’s at Sheffield Center, and, most recently, Tiffany’s Steak House.
Mary enjoyed sewing and was also accomplished in the art of crochet. She participated in league bowling events hosted at Slovak Lanes at the American Slovak Club; additional interests included reading as well as solving word and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by son Thomas J. Murphy of New Richmond, along with daughters Sharon Sick of Vermilion and Patricia Murphy of Norwalk. She also leaves five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband John T. Murphy in 1994, by her parents Andrew and Suzzanna (nee Zudell) Mucha, brothers Andrew and John Mucha, and sisters Suzzanna Wright, Irene Pasternak, and Helen Kuehn.
Friends may call Monday May 7th from 12:00 noon until time of services at 1:30 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Reverend James Peter will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
