Amalia Karabogias, 90, Had a Great Passion for Stitchery and Crocheting
Amalia Karabogias (née Kovanis), 90 of Lorain fell asleep in the Lord Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 16, 1928 in Thebes, Greece. She immigrated to Lorain in 1968.
Amalia was a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain. She enjoyed working around her home and taking care of her gardens. She had a great passion for stitchery and crocheting and loved to walk.
She will be deeply missed by her son George (Linda) Karaboyias of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter Dimitra Karaboyias of Lorain, granddaughter Michelle (Robert) Eaton of Fort Sill, Oklahoma and a great grandson Jesse Eaton and sister-in-law Maria Athanas and nieces and nephews.
Amalia was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Gust in 2009; her parents Anastasios and Katirina Kovanis; brothers Serafim and Takis Kovanis and a sister Crystalo Kozaitis.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, May 20 from 4 to 6 PM at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st South Lorain, (440) 277-8164 where, Trisagion Service will be in the funeral home at 5:30 PM. Her family will also receive friends Monday 10:30 AM until time of the funeral service at 11 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain the Very Rev. Father Michael Gulgas will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
