Maria Esther Castro, 78, Enjoyed Playing Bingo, Cooking and Traveling

Maria was born September 29, 1939 to Marco Castro and Rafaela Rosario in Humacao, Puerto Rico. María came from Puerto Rico many years ago. Maria worked at a greenhouse for a few years before going to work for Avon Oaks Nursing Home where she worked as a Nurse's Aid for over 40 years. Maria enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Maria is survived by her daughter Nancy Garcia of Lorain, sons Jose Angel of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Richard Castro of Lorain; sisters Mercedes, Rosa, Luisa, and Carmen all of Puerto Rico and Virginia of Florida; brother Juan Castro of Puerto Rico; granddaughters Juanita and Gabriella; grandsons Andrew and Joe (Toba) great granddaughters Jazlynn and Zayna and many family members and friends.

Other than her parents María was preceded in death by her daughter Maritza and her siblings Cano, Jose, Alberto, Lucas, Víctor, and Bienvenida.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am Mass of the Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar Pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
