Max Ramirez, Jr., 78, Enjoyed Fishing, Watching Western Movies, and Traveling
Max Ramirez, Jr. was born April 23rd, 1940 in Lorain and passed this life into the arms of God on Friday, August 24th, 2018.
At the time of his passing he was surrounded by his wife of 58 years Charlotte (née Horvatich) Ramirez and his children Michael (Sylvia) Ramirez of San Antonio, Texas, Charlotte (Wilfredo) Guzman of Lorain, Thomas (Vilmary) Ramirez of Lorain and Susan Ramirez of Elyria.
Max was a 30 year retiree of General Motors in Parma and Fisher Body, Elyria which he served the last 10 years as a UAW Benefits Representative. When he retired he moved to Seguin, Texas in 2002 and where he was an active member and president of the Summit Home Owners Association.
He received his GED from West Tech High School, Cleveland and attended Lorain County Community College where he took tech correspondence courses. He worked in the sheet metal field on an atomic submarine in Connecticut and then in the American Ship Build Co., Lorain. Early in life he worked at the Ace Car Wash and was co-owner of Ace Heating and Plumbing Co.
Max enjoyed fishing, watching western movies and traveling near and abroad. He was the catalyst for family reunions and parties as he loved spending time with his family.
He is also survived by his sister Maria Munoz of Lorain and Joseph Ramirez of Elyria; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Max is preceded in death by his parents Maximino Ramirez and Maria (nee Silva) Ramirez; brothers Charles Ramirez, Frederick Ramirez, Enrique Ramirez and Jesus Ramirez and sisters Mary Jasinto, Herminia Montes and Berta Harmon.
His family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Closing prayers will be Thursday at 12:15 PM in the funeral home, followed by 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 41295 North Ridge Road Elyria Township. Rev. Father Don Bosco will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
