Christine F. Garton, 65, Avid Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers Fan
Christine F. Garton (nee Balcik), 65, of Sheffield Lake, died unexpectedly on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at her home after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She was born May 31, 1953 in Lorain and had resided in Sheffield Lake most of her life.
Christine graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain in 1971 and Lorain County Community College in Elyria in 1979. She worked at Sherwin Williams in Cleveland and for the Sheffield/Sheffield Lake City School District for over 14 years before retiring in 2002.
Christine enjoyed spending time with family, playing and coaching softball, cross stitching, and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers fan.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years Emmett “Butch” Garton; daughter Kelly (Matt) Matheny of Norton; son Steve (Jessica) Garton of Wadsworth; grandson Nicholas Garton; and brothers James Balcik and Jerry Balcik, both of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Pauline Balcik (nee Dembinski).
The family will receive friends on Friday September 7th from 5:00 pm until closing prayers at 8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
