Photo of Marilyn L. Dietrich Marilyn L. Dietrich (nee Burton), 84, of Lorain, died peacefully on Saturday September 8, 2018 while surrounded by her family at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon.

She was born December 30, 1933 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain and Avon Lake area resident.

Marilyn graduated from Lorain High School in 1951 and married her husband Marshall on November 28, 1957 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. Upon moving to Avon Lake, she worked at the Avon Lake Pharmacy and as a crossing guard for Avon Lake schools.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake and St. Peter Parish in Lorain. Marilyn also volunteered at the St. Joseph Hospital Thrift Shop and Mercy Thrift Shop in Lorain. She was an avid reader, devout Catholic and animal lover.

She is survived by her children: Kimberly Dietrich-Park (Jae) of Hingham, Massachusetts, John B. Dietrich of Lorain and Mark D.G. Dietrich (Jennifer) of St. Paul, Minnesota; grandchild Mia Park and sister Susan Tonich (Tom) of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall W. Dietrich in 2012, daughter Lisa Marie Dietrich in 1962 and parents Herbert & Mary Burton (nee Ursic).

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday September 19th at 11:00 am in the chapel at St. Mary of the Woods, 35755 Detroit Rd, Avon. The Rev. Robert Marva, pastor of St Agnes/Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Cleveland, will preside. Cremation will follow.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
