Donald Keathley Sr., 85, Loved Gardening and Spending Time with His Grandchildren
Donald Keathley Sr., 85, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2018, after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 14, 1932 in Galveston Kentucky to Delmer and Olive (Née Hall) Keathley.
Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War.
He retired from U.S. Steel in Lorain. Donald was a member of Christian Life Church and the United Steel Workers Local 1104 ,Lorain. He loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed taking his twin grandsons paw-paw hunting.
Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years Gwendolyn (née Bailey) Keathley and his children, Yolanda “Lynn” (Hassan) Abouehana of Elyria, Max of Lorain, Donald Jr. of Elyria, Delmer of Texas, and step-daughters Tammy (Walter) Dennison of Lorain and Pam (Duane) Flowers of Elyria; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Jo Ann Adams of Michigan, Phyllis (Donald) Stephens of Michigan, Lavonne (Mark) Baldauf of Ashland, and Nadine (Randy) Blankenship of Kentucky; brothers James (Libby) of of North Carolina, Quinton (Shirley) of North Carolina and Randolph of Kentucky.
Other than his parents Donald was preceded in death by his sister Wilma Jean Saunders.
His family will receive friends on Friday, October 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Richard J. Reidy funeral Home, 1783 East 31rst Street, South Lorain. Services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Christian Life Church, 3559 West Erie Avenue, Lorain where Reverend Wallace Justice will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery in Avon. The VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct Military Honors.
