Terrence J. Mawson, Sr., 73, Coached Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball and Junior League Football for Many Years
Terrence J. “Terry” Mawson, Sr, 73, of Lorain, died Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.
He was born June 20, 1945 in Cleveland, grew up in Sheffield Lake and had resided in Sheffield Lake and Lorain most of his life.
Terry graduated from Brookside High School and then worked at Republic Steel in Lorain as a Pipe Fitter retiring in 2007 after 41 years.
For many years, Terry coached Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball and Junior League Football. He was a member and past treasurer of SOAR, a member of USWA Local #1104, the Moose Lodge and American Legion, all of Lorain. He traveled extensively and had visited all 50 US states.
He is survived by his sons: Michael (Janine) Mawson of Lorain, Timothy (Lynn) Mawson of South Amherst, TJ Mawson of Lorain, Adam (Casey) Mawson of Elyria and David (Stephanie) Mawson of Amherst; grandchildren: Alex Mawson, Trenton Mielcarek, Marla Mawson, Harrison Mawson, Grant Green & Isabella Hostler and brothers Don Mahon of Medina and James Arthur Mawson of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Mawson, mother Mary E. West (nee Mahon) and companion Mae Kovach in 2008.
Private family funeral services will be held.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
