Caroline F. Dolyk, 97, Enjoyed Reading, Crocheting, and Both Flower and Vegetable Gardening

Caroline F. Dolyk, (nee Frankovich), age 97, passed away on the afternoon of Monday October 22, 2018.

Born in Lorain on November 22, 1920, she had been a life-long resident of the city.

Caroline was a parishioner of the former St. Vitus Catholic Church and was affiliated with St. Theresa’s Guild there. She was currently a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish.

Mrs. Dolyk was extremely proud of her Croatian heritage and was one of the founding members of the American-Croatian Club of Lorain.

In her free time she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and both flower and vegetable gardening.

She is survived by her son Michael A. Dolyk and daughter-in-law Marcia residing in North Olmsted.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband Mike Dolyk in 2000, daughter Carol Kurjan in 1995, parents Frank and Josephine (nee Canjar) Frankovich, sisters Josephine Derifay, Frances Chaszar, and Mary R. “Mara” Danevich, brothers Louis “Lefty” and Edward Frankovich, infant twin brothers Frank and Steven Frankovich, and infant brothers Nick, Frank, and Matthew Frankovich.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
