William T. Carter Sr., 76, Loved the Outdoors
William T. Carter Sr., 76 of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 22, 2018 at his home.
Bill was born in Cotton Plant Arkansas December 6, 1941 and had lived in Elyria Township since he was 10 years old. He loved the outdoors whether he was hunting or just sitting in the sun "watching his garden grow". Bill worked for Aramark Services for 41 years. Bill was a member of Broadway Assembly Church and had served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Greeter and a Sunday school bus driver. He was also the director of Love Extended Food Pantry, an outreach of Broadway Assembly. Bill Loved the Lord and was always happiest sharing his love with others. He was truly a servant of God.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Ruth G. Carter (née Watson); his daughter Carolyn (Robert) Crooks; son William (Brenda) Carter, Jr.; grandchildren, Melissa Erickson, Deborah Baraga, Richard (April) Crawford Jr., Jillian Carter, Joleen Blackshear, Steven Carter, Darious Blackshear and Andrew Crooks; great grandchildren, Ashley Baraga, Ryan Baraga, Zachary Baraga, Peyton Crawford, Noah Blackshear and Ezra Crawford; sister Judy Watson and sister in law Dorothy Watson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Carter, his parents, Charlie and Bessie Carter (née Fryer) grandson in laws Mark Erickson and Raymond Baraga as well as four sisters and three brothers.
His family will receive friends Thursday, October 25 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Broadway Assembly Church, 5495 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. His funeral service will be there Friday, October 26 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Matt Jones, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
