Jeffrey Kata, 61, Very Kind and Generous Man, Always Willing to Lend a Hand
Jeffrey J. Jeff Kata, 61, of Lorain, died Saturday November 10, 2018 at his home.
He was born October 3, 1957 in Lorain, grew up in Sheffield and had been a lifelong area resident.
Jeff graduated from Brookside High School in Sheffield and attended Lorain County Community College in Elyria where he studied criminology. He worked in maintenance at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon.
Jeff was a very kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He loved meeting new friends and making all laugh with his quick wit and humor. He had a deep faith in God and attended Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain. Jeff was passionate about cars and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and part owner/stockholder in the team. He enjoyed spending his summers at Marblehead and the Islands.
He is survived by his mother Julianne Kata (nee Brezina); brothers: Alan Kata of Lorain and Theodore Kata of Sheffield Village; nephew Darrell (Melissa) Bozman, great nephew Levi Bozman and great niece Kyleigh Bozman. He was preceded in death by his father Theodore C. Kata in 1977 and sisters Constance Kata in 1970 and Janice Kata in 1999.
The family will receive friends Friday November 16th from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, presiding. Cremation will follow. His ashes will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain at a later date.
