Danny L. Amend, 74, Owned and Operated Dan's Drywall Before Retiring

He was born June 19, 1944 in Amherst and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Danny owned and operated Dan’s Drywall for over 50 years before retiring.

He was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where he volunteered regularly for church functions as well as bingo. When his children were young, he coached their baseball and softball teams and he enjoyed family gatherings and picnics. As a grandfather, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting and scholastic events. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed attending classic car shows.

He is survived by his children: Chad (Megan) Amend of North Ridgeville, Brenda (Jason) Fumara of Gahanna, Kimberly Lewallen (Frank Formoso) of Elyria and Leah Amend (David Kelly) of Amherst; grandchildren: Ashley (Matt) Prichard, Nicholas, Joshua, Tyler and Gianna; great granddaughter Olivia Prichard and his siblings: Robert (Michiko) Eberle, Cheryl (Jerry) Bacskay, Bernard (Judith) Amend, James (Karen) Amend, Linda Miller, Gaye (Michael) St John, Keith Amend, Susan (Bob) Deyarmin, Max (Diane) Bishop, Jeffrey Bishop, Susie Anderson and Cindy (Dave) Furnival-Bishop and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Margaret “Peggy” Amend (nee Centifanti) on October 14, 2014, father Charles Amend, mother Deborah Bishop (nee Booth) and stepmother June Amend.

The family will receive friends Friday January 11th from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 12th at 9:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N Ridge Rd, Elyria Twp. The Rev. John Retar, pastor of St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain, will preside. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
