Raymond R. Meza, 77, U.S. Army Veteran
Raymond R. Meza, 77, of Lorain, a gentle spirit and kind soul will be deeply missed, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 peacefully, surrounded by loved ones after fighting a great battle against illness for many years.
Ray was born March 15, 1941 at home in Lorain and remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1959 Class A. He was an U. S. Army Veteran. Ray retired as a Project Estimator for Ohio Edison. He worked there for 30 years. Ray was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State sport’s fan. He enjoyed spending time with his good friends. He made friends easily and that was apparent even in the last few months with the friendships he developed at French Creek on the Woods skilled nursing facility. Ray and his family express their great appreciation to them.
He is survived by his sisters Gloria Meza Fulmer of North Ridgeville and Linda (Jesse) Cruz of South Carolina; brother Joseph (Cindy) Meza of Lorain; nieces and nephews Sandra Peloquin, Mark Fulmer, Ann Fulmer, Wendy Meza, Michael Cruz and Mary Black and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Enrique and Mary Louisa (née Martinez) Meza; brother Enrique Hank Meza Jr and nephew Joe Meza Jr.
His family will receive friends Sunday, February 2 from 1 to 5 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Monday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Lorain will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the AMVETS Post 32 Elyria immediately after mass.
