Paul M. Firment, 82, U.S. Army Veteran

He was born in Numine, Pennsylvania on November 13, 1937 and had been a resident of Ohio since his childhood.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Army and fulfilled duty assignments as a PFC from 1961 through 1963.
He was employed as an inspector at General Motors Corporation’s Parma production facility and retired in 1987 following a career that spanned more than three decades with the auto manufacturer. He was a long-time member of U.A.W. Local 1005.
A parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, he also took great pride in his 1961 Chevy Impala SS exhibiting it at numerous car shows and cruise-ins along the north coast.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Marilyn (nee Bryda), son Joe (Kathy) Firment of Amherst, and twin daughters Jeanne Firment (Traci Canfield) of Collins and Jackie Pagenstecher (Jim Sitterly) of Norwalk. He also leaves grandchildren Nicole Firment, Amanda Scarl, Jessica Coleman, Ryan Firment, and Jennifer Firment.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna (nee Shulik) Firment.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Parastas service will be conducted there at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday beginning with the Panachida offered at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th Street, Lorain. The Very Reverend Andrew Nagrant, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to either St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church or Mercy New Life Hospice.
