Helen Frankovich, 92, Loved Word Search Puzzles & Car and Bus Trips to Various Casinos

Photo of Helen Frankovich Helen Frankovich (nee Moldovan), 92, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on Sunday, May 3, 2020 following a brief illness.

She was born on March 20, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. Helen married Edward Frankovich on June 7, 1952 at St. Helena Romanian Catholic Church in Cleveland. She moved to Lorain in 1952.

Helen graduated from Notre Dame High School in Chardon in 1946. She retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1996. She previously worked for Lorain City Auditor Antone Ujhelyi and J.C. Penney. Helen was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish in Lorain, and also a member of the former St. Vitus Croatian Catholic Church in Lorain. Helen was a trustee of the American Croatian Ladies Auxiliary, a member of St. Theresa's Guild, a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 136, and a lifetime member of the American Croatian Club. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, car and bus trips to various casinos with her daughter Mary Jo, and Helen also loved shopping.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Debbie (Jim) Kopis of Sarasota, Florida and Mary Jo Frankovich of Lorain; grandchildren Jen and Eric McCartney of Lorain, and Mike Kopis of Sarasota, Florida; great grandchildren Tyler and Brooklynn McCartney of Lorain, Austin McCartney of McAllen, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward in 2013; her son Eddie in 1976; her parents Nick and Anna Moldovan (nee Roman); brothers Steven, Nick, Aurel, and Gregory (Lou), and sister Mary (John) Baker.

On Wednesday May 6, due to necessary health precautions, a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Frances Cabrini Parish and burial followed at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish Endowment Fund, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain Ohio 44055.
