James Richard Stirzaker, 79, Amateur Radio Operator

Photo of James Richard Stirzaker James Richard Stirzaker, age 79, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.

He was born in Lorain, grew up in Sheffield Village and Lorain before moving to North Ridgeville in the 1970’s.

He worked in sales and repair for Lorain Products for 15 years. He later went on to work at Inservco in LaGrange in building maintenance.

James was a member of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville, American Red Cross and was a past President of Lorain County Amateur Radio Association. He enjoyed being an amateur radio operator (call sign WA8UGC) and worked in Civil Defense during natural disasters. He volunteered and later ran the Pumpkin Patrol for over 50 years, helping with motor safety with the state Highway Patrol. He also enjoyed going to train shows with his son, collecting Lionel trains, building sets in his home, visiting with family, and sharing a meal at Kim’s Family Restaurant.

Survivors include his son, Richard (Mireya) of Reston, Virginia, daughter, Beth-Ann (Isaac) Galvez of Akron, grandchildren, Gabriella, Isabelle Galvez and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary-Ann (nee Foreman) Stirzaker in 1994, son, James Jr., sisters, his twin Janet, Eleanor Palagyi, Catherine Lang, parents, John Leopold and Eulalia Catherine (nee Bach) Stirzaker.

Friends may call Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 9:30AM until the time of prayer service at 10:30AM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. 11AM Mass will follow at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville and will be live streamed on Saint Peter Catholic Church Facebook page. Rev. Joe Robinson will be the celebrant.

Private burial will be held later at St. Peter’s Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
