Marcella O'Connor, 84, Enjoyed Music and Played Piano and Organ

She was born in Lorain, where she lived most of her life with her husband, Dennis. Marcy and her husband resided in Amherst for the past 16 years.
She graduated in 1954 from Lorain High School. Marcy married in 1955 and then moved to Pleasanton, CA where her husband was serving with the U.S. Airforce. While there, she worked as a clerk and typist for the US government. After moving back to Lorain, and after her children were in school, she began her career in retail, working at Fisher Foods/Rini Rego/Giant Eagle where she worked for 27 years, retiring as head cashier in 1992.
She was a lifetime member of Nativity BVM Parish in Lorain. Marcy was active in the PTA and volunteered at the school. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and member of the United Polish Club Ladies Auxiliary in Elyria. She volunteered at the St. Joseph Hospital gift shop and crocheted many newborn hats for their nursery.
Marcy enjoyed music of many styles. She played piano and organ and also tackled new technology. Marcy enjoyed knitting, cooking, sewing, crafts, travel, and teaching her children and grandchildren about Polish traditions. She collected over a 100 red shoe Christmas ornaments as a reminder to her family that, there’s no place like home.
She is survived by Dennis, her husband of 65 years; children, Michael (Sherrie) O’Connor of Texas, Patti (Randy) Law of Lorain and Neal (Trisha) O’Connor of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Keith and Amber O’Connor both of Texas: Erin Boguski of Maryland and John Boguski of Texas: Molly O’Connor of Ohio and Casey O’Connor of Tennessee; step-grandchildren, Sally Errico of New York, Nick Law of Ohio, and Scott Law of Ohio; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Christine Czarney; sisters, Lillian Rak, Marie Sands, Dorothy Maloney and Theresa Majoras.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Nativity BVM Church, 418 West 15th St., Lorain, OH 44052 from 9:45 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Fr. Robert J. Glepko, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
