Dr. Jerome R. Socha, 84, Worked Over 50 Years as a Dentist in Lorain
Dr Jerome R Doc Socha, 84, of Lorain, died Saturday December 12, 2020 at Kingston of Vermilion.
He was born August 9, 1936 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Jerry attended Nativity Catholic School and graduated from St Mary High School in 1954. He attended Alliance College for two years and then the Case Western School of Dentistry where he earned his Masters Degree in dentistry in 1960. He served with the US Air Force from 1960 to 1972 and was stationed at Misawa Air Force Base in Japan with the rank of Captain.
Doc worked for over 50 years as a dentist in his private practice in Lorain retiring in 2010.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, UPC, PACC, Knights of Columbus, AMVETS Post #47 and the PLAV #38, all of Lorain and the Lorain County Dental Association. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, polka music and following Notre Dame sports.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary Ann Socha (née Malinowski); children: Michael Socha (Susie) of Vermilion, Cindy Socha of Bay Village, Greg Socha of Lorain and Brenda Potyrala (Mike) of Lorain; grandchildren: Killian Socha, Willow Socha, Ally Potyrala and Kalyn Potyrala and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Stefania Socha (née Wszolek) and his siblings Edward Socha, Molly Kman, Eugene Socha, Mike Socha, Adam Socha and Daniel Socha.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Kingston of Vermilion for their care for Jerry over the past 2 � years.
A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday December 19, 2020 at 10:00 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Rev Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will preside. Attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors.
