James M. Phillips, 86, Enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, and Gardening

James M. Phillips, age 86, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Life Care Center of Elyria.

He was born in Nelsonville and had been a resided in North Ridgeville for 51 years before moving to Lorain five years ago.

James worked as a stud welder for Milford Rivet in Elyria for 34 years, then continued to stay active working for Walmart in Elyria for several years.

He was a member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church in North Ridgeville for over 30 years and attended Bethel Baptist in Elyria. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include sons, James (Charlotte) Phillips of Grayson, Kentucky, Leonard (Una) Phillips of Lorain, daughters, Diana Hunter of Elyria, Dawn Bryant of Elyria; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 44 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Ester Shumway of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lila in 2011, daughter Cynthia Nelson, parents, Leonard and Thelma Phillips, brother, Lester Phillips, and sister Colleen Bittner.

A public walk thru visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic if you do not feel comfortable attending, the family understands, please feel free to express your condolences in another manner or leave them a message on his online memorial at www.bognerfamilyfuneralhome.com Face coverings and proper social distancing will be required at all times. Funeral services will be private for the immediate family only but will be live streamed 11 AM Monday on Bogner Family Funeral Home Facebook page.

Private interment will be in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
