Shawn Christopher Cruz, Jr., 15, Loved to Play Basketball

Shawn was born on September 19, 2005 and was a 10th grade Honor Roll student at Lorain High School.

Shawn was a very loving and caring son and brother. He loved to play basketball, enjoyed taking walks through the trails with his mother, and watching movies with his father. Shawn especially enjoyed working on cars with his grandpa Dave and going fishing with his grandpa Oscar. He loved to spend time with his brothers playing video games and lovingly teasing his sister. Shawn touched many lives with his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Shawn is survived by his parents Shawn and Lisette Cruz; his siblings Luis Collazo, Antonio, Julia, and Gianna Cruz; grandmothers Teresa Rojas Mercado and Mary Lou Deniff; grandfathers Oscar Collazo and David Zeiter and great grandmother Donna Dineff.

He is preceded in death by his great grandfather Louis “Deda” Deniff, grandfather Antonio Cruz, great grandmother Patricia “Nana” Millan, and uncle Francisco Pilar Rojas.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, December 23 from 11 AM until 2 PM at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Private funeral service will follow. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor of St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and Rev. Oscar Collazo, Pastor of Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal Assembly of God will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
