William C. Varner Jr., 81, Train Enthusiast

Photo of William C. Varner Jr. William C. Varner Jr., age 81, of North Ridgeville, passed away Saturday, December 26,2020 at home.

He was born in McCarr, Kentucky and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for 49 years after moving from Elyria. He worked as a Skilled Trade Painter for Ford Motor Company in Brookpark before retiring in 2004 after 47 years. He was a member of UAW local 125. He was a train enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing, videotaping and editing weddings, traveling, coaching little league hot stove baseball at Palmer Field, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was also a longtime member of Cathedral of Life Ministries. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marva (nee Smith), sons William Randall (Dawn) Varner of North Ridgeville and Steven (Sherri) Varner of North Ridgeville, daughters Donna (Jonathan) Vega of North Ridgeville and Denna (Luis) Correa of North Ridgeville, grandchildren Lauren (Nick), Emily (Austin), Angel, Candice, William, Juan Carlos, Angel, Jayden, Jordan, and Jackson, great-grandchildren Anthony, Owen, and Liam brother Dan (Sandy) Varner of Matewan, WV, sisters Lois Dotson of Phelps, KT, Donna (Ralph) Hunt of Danielville, GA, Fanny Lou (Edward) Orrell of Portsmouth, OH, and Betty Sue Boyd of Watertown SD. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Pearlie Varner, brother Clyde D. “Buddy” Varner, sisters Thelma Smith and Shirley Gooslin. Private memorial service will be held for the immediate family only but will be live streamed on Bogner Family Funeral Home Facebook page Thursday December 31st at 1pm.
