Margaret A. Walch, 90, Enjoyed Dancing and Casino Gambling Trips

Photo of Margaret A. Walch Margaret A. “Babe” Walch (nee Jencik), 90, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday January 9, 2021 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.

She was born February 20, 1930 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania and had resided in North Ridgeville for over 38 years moving from Garfield Heights.

Margaret worked as an assembler and tow motor operator at Allis Chalmers in McKees Rocks and, after moving to Ohio, worked at the Ford Engine Plant in Brook Park for 13 years before retiring.

Margaret was a very compassionate woman who served as a caregiver to her mother and brother during their illnesses. She also was a fighter as she dealt with several of her own illnesses for many years.

She was a very devoted Catholic as she prayed the rosary daily and made sure to attend weekly mass. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst and a past member of St Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville.

Margaret loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed dancing, casino gambling trips, playing bingo, baking and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of 65 � years Howard “Howie” Walch, children: Deb (Edward) Rak of Amherst Township, Jim “Chief” Walch (companion Kathy Lanier) of Elyria and John Walch of North Ridgeville; grandchildren: Michelle (Rob) Cooperider, Megan (Greg) Cosentino, Jordan Rak (fiancé Jim Kahlik) and Jakob Walch and great grandchildren: Evan & Ian Cooperider, Olivia & Zoe Cosentino and Silas, Basil & Prudence Kahlik. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Susan Jencik (nee Kovach), brothers: John, Joe & George Jencik and sisters: Ann, Mary, Helen & Elsie.

The family will receive friends Wednesday January 13, 2021 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines displayed at the funeral chapel entrance and throughout the building. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 14, 2021 at 10:15 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 333 S Lake St, South Amherst. The Rev. Timothy O’Connor, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
