Alan K. Hronec, 76, Avid Outdoorsman

Photo of Alan K. Hronec Alan K. Hronec, 76, of Amherst, died Sunday January 24, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital from complications from surgery.

He was born January 4, 1945 in Lorain, grew up in Sheffield Lake and had resided in Amherst since 1984.

Alan graduated from Brookside High School in Sheffield in 1963. He served with the US Army from 1965-1967 as a sergeant and military policeman at the 32nd parallel in Korea.

Alan worked at Stanadyne and Moen for 28 years until their closing then worked at the Ford Assembly Plants in Lorain, Avon Lake and Kansas City where he retired in 2009. He recently worked as an Archery Tech at Cabela’s in Avon.

Alan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was a member of the Amherst Sportsmen Gun & Reel Club and the Erie County Conservation League.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Patty Hronec (nee Diedrick), sons: James Blair of Amherst and Joseph Blair of Lexington, Kentucky and grandsons: Nathan and Jebidiah Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents John & Elain Hronec (nee Stutt).

The family will receive friends Friday January 29, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines displayed at the funeral home entrance and throughout the building. Private family funeral services will be held at a later date with inurnment at St Joseph Cemetery in Amherst.
