Jorge Ortiz, 64, Loved Music

He was born November 18, 1956 in Santurce, Puerto Rico and had resided in Lorain most of his life.
Jorge worked as a security guard for a private company that provided security for Time Warner Cable Company.
Jorge had a love for music having taught himself how to read music, play the keyboards, guitar and the cuatro. A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lorain, Jorge played lead guitar with the church choir for over 40 years.
He loved being with his family, enjoyed cracking jokes, working on cars, going to the lake and was an avid fan of WWE wrestling.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years Carmen Ortiz (nee Burgos), sons: Jorge Ortiz Jr, Eric Ortiz, Ernie Ortiz and Misael Ortiz, all of Lorain; 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, mother Carmen Ortiz (nee Beltran) of Lorain, brothers: Pedro Ortiz Jr (Olga) of Lorain, Miguel Ortiz (Delores) of New Jersey, Gerardo Ortiz (Erna) of Sheffield Lake and Victor Ortiz of Sheffield Lake; sisters: Carmen Rodriguez (Angel) of Lorain, Maria Mercado of New Jersey and Jessica Ortiz of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his father Pedro Ortiz Sr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday February 10, 2021 from 8:30 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain. The Rev. William Thaden, pastor, will preside. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing protocols while in the church during the wake and mass. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
