Josephine Jameson, 105, Enjoyed Playing Cards and Bowling

Photo of Josephine Jameson Josephine Jameson (nee Smith), age 105 of Lorain, passed away peacefully at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home on the afternoon of Monday February 8, 2021.

Born in Elyria, Ohio on March 20, 1915, Josephine had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood. She was a 1933 graduate of Lorain High School and a 1934 graduate of the Lorain Business College.

She had been employed as a medical assistant for the practice of Dr. Chester Bell, D.O. for many years. She later served as his personal care-giver following his retirement.

Josephine possessed a large circle of friends and was widely regarded as a very socialable individual by everyone who knew her. A member and former officer in the Lakeland Women’s Club, she enjoyed playing cards as well as bowling in the Senior League at Rebman’s Recreation in her free time.

She is survived by grandchildren John J. Leshinski III (Becca) and Catherine Leshinski-Smith (Brian), great grandsons John J. Leshinski IV, Ian Leshinski, and step-children Tom Jameson, Margaret Roberts, and Bob Jameson. Additional survivors include her nephew and primary care-giver Alfred J. Mathewson (Ginny) of Lorain, nephew Michael D. Mathewson (Donna) also of Lorain, nephew Joseph H. Smith (Kate) residing in Tampa, Florida, and daughter-in-law Margaret Leshinski.

She was preceded in death by her first husband John J. Leshinski, second husband Stanley Jameson, son John J. Leshinski., parents Joseph F. and Martha Smith, brother Harold Smith, and sister Constance Mathewson.

In accordance with her personal wishes, there will be no funeral services conducted at this time. Entombment will take place privately in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.

Josephine’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home for the care they provided to Josephine during her residence there as well as to her friends and neighbors for their assistance through the years.
