Alfred Briches, 91, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Alfred “Al” Briches, 91, lifelong resident of Lorain passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021.

Throughout his life, Alfred had many accomplishments. He was born in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and became a staff sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked for BF Goodrich as a first-class chemical operator and retired after 40 years of service. Alfred and Janice enjoyed traveling to Florida and out west to visit their relatives and friends. Alfreds’s hobbies included playing cards, fishing, and spending time at Kelleys Island with his friends and family. He was also an athlete and passionate tennis player. He was a member at St. Peter Parish, I.A.V; Knights of Columbus and Town Club. He was also a volunteer for Mercy Health Hospital.

“Tange”, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Janice Briches (nee Broski); his sons Guy Briches and John Briches of Sarasota Fl; his grandchildren Geordynne (Vispi) Umranwala, Sierra and Stephen Briches; and great grandson Zai Umranwala.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents Gaetano and Nicoletta LaBriciosa and his sisters Ann Rosso and Yolanda Flynn.

The family will celebrate Alfred’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave. Lorain, Ohio 44053.
