Dennis C. Matotek, 73, U.S. Army Veteran

He was born January 12, 1948 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Amherst resident.
Dennis served with the US Army as an SP4 in Vietnam. He worked as an engineer for the Lake Terminal Railroad in Lorain for over 20 years before retiring.
He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS #47 and Knight of Columbus.
Dennis loved being with his grandchildren and having family get-togethers. He was an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams and loved Motown music.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years Shelly (nee Cassidy), daughter Jillian DiFilippo (Mike), grandchildren Aiden, Mason and Olivia DiFilippo; sister Michele Bartlome (Jim), brothers-in-law Allen Cassidy (Lucy) and Darryl Cassidy (Betty), sister-in-law Cherryl Young (Jeff) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ludwig & Olga Matotek (nee Obreza) and brother Stephen Jim Matotek.
There will be no visitation. A graveside funeral service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain on Thursday March 4, 2021 at 12:30 pm. The Rev. John Retar, pastor of St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, will preside. Military honors will be conducted by AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria. Masks are required to be worn by all attendees.
