Philip A. Laury Jr., 86, Avid Cleveland Indians and Browns Fan

Photo of Philip A. Laury Jr. Philip A. Laury Jr, 86, of Elyria Township, died Wednesday March 3, 2021 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center after a short illness and on the day of his 60th wedding anniversary.

He was born June 19, 1934 in South Amherst and had resided in Elyria Township most of his life moving from Lorain.

Phil graduated from Clearview High School in 1952 and then served with the US Air Force from 1956-1960.

He retired from York International in Elyria where he worked as a lab technician. Prior to that, he worked at EH Roberts in Elyria.

Phil was a member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria and Italian-American Veterans Post #1 in Lorain. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns and enjoyed golfing, casino trips and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Jackie (nee Rigo), sons: Dean Laury of West Henrietta, New York, Duane Laury (Milly) of Elyria and Matthew Laury (Jennifer) of Howland, Ohio; grandchildren: Nicholas, Zachary, Mia, Alessandro, Giovanni & Dominic Laury. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

The family will receive friends Monday March 8, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N Ridge Rd, Elyria. The Rev. John Retar, pastor, will preside. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing protocols while in the church during the wake and mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
