Ronald J. Dlugosz, 86, U.S. Marines Veteran

He was born March 15, 1935 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Ron graduated from Lorain High School and served in the US Marine Corps from 1956-1958 where he was a corporal and earned the sharpshooter commendation and Good Conduct Medal.
Ron worked as an inspector at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant retiring in 1991. Later, he worked in maintenance at the Echoing Lake Residential Home retiring after 20 years.
He was very handy, could fix most anything and make things out of wood. He enjoyed socializing, dancing, fishing, camping and loved animals. He was a member of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain and New Life Deliverance Ministries in Lorain.
He is survived by his daughters: Elaine Francis (Lenny) of Elyria and Charlene Dlugosz of Avon Lake; grandchildren: Lee Francis, Tamara Todd (Joe), Charity Todd (Jerome), Jeremy Francis and Steven Francis; 11 great grandchildren and godchildren Judy Stang-Sargent and Dana Hoyt. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Kathleen L. Dlugosz (nee Szombati) on May 22, 2011, parents Frank & Anna Dlugosz (nee Sroka), a great granddaughter, sisters: Josephine Attie, Jane Simashkevich and Ann Super and brothers Joseph, Alfred, Walter & Bruno Dlugosz.
The family will receive friends Friday March 26, 2021 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at New Life Deliverance Ministries, 400 Washington Ave, Lorain. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing protocols while in the church during the wake and services. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 27, 2021 at 11:00 am in the church with the Rev. Jessie C. Berry, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where AMVETS Post #32 of Elyria will conduct military honors.
