Martha J. Verestoy, 74, Caring Rehabilitation Nurse

Marty was born in Fairview Park on November 25, 1946 and had been a life-long resident of Lorain.
She was a 1966 graduate of Lorain High School and went on to complete certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lorain County Community College. Marty began her nursing career as an L.P.N. at the Avon Oaks Nursing Home as well as the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon. In April of 1974 she joined the staff at Lorain Community Hospital embarking on a career that spanned thirty-eight years on the rehabilitation floor there. During her tenure, she forever touched countless lives assisting patients in their recoveries from life-altering ailments. She retired from the healthcare facility in 2021.
Marty had been a long-time parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain.
She is survived by her brother Duane Palmer (Cindy) and sister Kathleen Kathy Pace (Bill). She also leaves nieces Elisa Boles (Mike) and Luann Bearer, great nephews Samual David, Jr. and Tylor Boles, great niece Sydney Boles, great great nephew Weston Thomson, and great great niece Amelia David.
Marty was preceded in death by her father Daniel Verestoy, mother Martha Palmer (nee Paili) and step-father Ellsworth Palmer.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. All visitors will be required to wear facial coverings and guests are asked to follow the Covid-19 guidelines posted at the funeral chapel entrance and throughout the building. Graveside services will be observed Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery (555 North Ridge Road Lorain). Those attending are asked to gather at the main entrance of the cemetery at 9:45. Reverend Daniel Divis, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church will officiate.
