Curtis W. Marcucci, 65, Motocross Enthusiast

Photo of Curtis W. Marcucci Curtis W. “Curt” Marcucci, age 65, of South Amherst, passed away peacefully at Mercy New Life Hospice on the afternoon of Friday March 26th, 2021.

Born in Lorain, Curt grew up in Elyria and was a 1974 graduate of Elyria High School; he had been a resident of South Amherst for the past twenty-nine years and had formerly lived in Amherst.

He was most recently employed as a maintenance specialist for Republic Services in Carlisle Township. Previously, he had worked for nearly two decades as a crane operator for Republic Steel as well as its predecessor, Republic Engineered Products.

A parishioner of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in South Amherst, Curt was a motocross enthusiast and former member of the Amherst Meadowlarks.

In his free time he enjoyed family trips to Cook’s Forest (Clarion County, Pennsylvania) as well as annual vacations to Florida. Always ready to assist friends and neighbors with fix-it projects and lawn maintenance, he enjoyed league bowling and fishing in his free time.

Curt is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years Kathryn “Kathy” (nee Gurnack), son Erick Marcucci, and daughter Kaylee Marcucci. In addition, he leaves his mother Audrey (nee Somogyi), brothers Doug (Suzi) and Kevin (Lisa), sister Kim Canterbury (Don), and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father William Marcucci in 2016.

Visitation will be in Nativity BVM Catholic Church – 333 South Lake Street, (South Amherst) on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. (Facial coverings and social distancing protocol will be strictly followed) Father Timothy O’Connor, pastor of the parish will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Contributions in his memory are encouraged to either the American Lung Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
