Jolynne M. Jaykel, 74, Enjoyed Cooking and Reading

She was born March 26, 1947 in Lorain to Joseph and Helen Zahorec (nee Jalowiec) and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Jolynne graduated from Clearview High School in 1965 and attended Kent State University.
She retired in 2015 from Lorain City Schools where she worked as a secretary at several schools. Prior to that, she volunteered in the schools as a teacher’s aide.
Jolynne was a member of St Peter Parish in Lorain and the Golden Crescent Cage Bird Club. She enjoyed being with her family and granddaughter, cooking, reading and bird breeding.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years James R. Jaykel, children James A. (Carol) Jaykel of Rochester, NY, and Julianne (David) Nau of Elyria; granddaughter Jessica Nau, brother John (Nancy) Zahorec of Lorain and sisters: Mary Ellen (Al) Muc of Vermilion and Susan (Charles) Neely of Lorain and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial mass will be held Monday April 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at St Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will preside. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing protocols while in church. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
