Aubrey J. Bodkins, 85, U.S. Army Veteran

Born in Bemis, West Virginia on June 6, 1935, he had been a resident of Ohio since 1969 coming from Keyser, West Virginia. Tib had lived in New Russia Township for the past nineteen years moving from Lorain.
He was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Private First Class stationed in Alaska.
He has been employed as an assembler on the commercial truck line at Ford Motors Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant. A former member of U.A.W. Local 425, Tib retired from the automaker on January 1, 1996.
He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Oberlin and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time. Additional interests included playing cards, gardening, and landscaping. Tib also loved his pet long-haired Dachshunds Coco and Rastus.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years Ruth E. (nee Walker), daughters Cathy Galvan (Bob) of Lorain, Jane Spinney (Parker) of Grafton, Linda Wilson of Lagrange, Jean McAvoy-Johnson (John Jr.) of Wakeman, Ruth Huffman of Vermilion, Carol Scholte (Bruce) of Lakewood, California, and Peggy Barnicle (Jim) of Lagrange. Additional survivors include fifteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, brother Harvey J. Joe Bodkins (Connie) of Amherst, and former wife Joyce Ellingsworth of Lorain.
Tib was preceded in death by his parents Herbert J. and Pearl M (nee Hoover) Bodkins, brothers Forrest, Harry, Donnie, Leslie, and Lapel Bodkins, sisters Elsie Edmond, Gladys White, Palley Goodwin, Rose Teter, Teen Shifflett, Cecelia Mullens, and Monnie Bodkins, half-brother Curtis Bodkins, and nephew Jeffrey Bodkins.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. All guests will be required to wear facial coverings and visitors are asked to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines posted at the funeral chapel entrance and throughout the building. Funeral services will be Monday in the funeral chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Ken Puskas, Associate Pastor of Midway Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in New Russia Township Cemetery.
