Jeffrey M. Ambrosio, 53, Known for His Love of Animals

Photo of Jeffrey M. Ambrosio Jeffrey M. Ambrosio, age 53 of Lakewood, and formerly of Avon, passed away at University Hospitals of Cleveland on the morning of Monday May 17th due to complications of a chronic illness.

Born in Lorain on February 23, 1968, Jeff was a 1986 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School where he played safety on the Panthers varsity football team and catcher on the varsity baseball team. A multiple-sport varsity letter recipient, Jeff was inducted into the Elyria Catholic Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the school’s 1985-86 state championship football team.

Following graduation, he matriculated at John Carroll University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing.

Known for his love of animals, Jeff enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to a diverse variety of music in his free time. An avid cyclist, he also liked physical fitness and working out. In addition, he enjoyed cooking and was well known for his epic pork chops. He also possessed a special love of Mexican cuisine.

Jeff is survived by his children Isabel Ambrosio of Castle Rock, Colorado, Maxwell Ambrosio of Kent, and Sophia Ambrosio of Avon. He also leaves his brother Chris Ambrosio (Emily) of Avon, and sisters Diane Pruchinsky of Westlake and Darlene Straub of Fairview Park.

He was preceded in death by his father Arnold J. Ambrosio in 2014 and mother Elaine “Bunny” Ambrosio (nee Kulcsar) in 2017.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be observed on Sunday (May 23rd) from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. in Shelter # 1 at the Black River Reservation High Meadows – 1750 Ford Road, Elyria. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 1st in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church – 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
