Bette M. Ludwig, 84, Will Always Be Remembered for Her Love and Dedication to God and Her Family

Photo of Bette M. Ludwig Bette M. Ludwig (nee Kolbe), age 84, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at her residence on the afternoon of Friday May 21, 2021 following an extended illness.

Born in Amherst on July 21, 1936, she was a graduate of Marion L. Steel High School.

Bette will always be remembered for her love and dedication to God and to her family. A devout Catholic, she let the beautiful example of how she lived her faith-based life serve as a guide that impacted generations in the past, present, and, most assuredly, into the future.

She was a parishioner of St. Peter Parish and was active as a member and past president of the Sacred Heart Society there. She also served as a volunteer at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home and was always willing to recite the Rosary with the residents there.

Bette possessed a love for crafting and was also regarded as a wonderful and talented cook; her delicious recipes will live on through her descendents.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years Donald R. Ludwig, Sr., sons Donald R. Ludwig, Jr. (Kathy) of South Amherst and Dale Ludwig (Sharon) of Amherst, along with daughters Deborah M. Ciehanoski (Edward) of Lagrange and Denise M. Ludwig-Van Dyke (Todd) of Lorain. Bette also leaves twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and sister Virginia Corbett of Huron.

She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Dorothy (nee Beetler) Kolbe, brother Harold Kolbe, and sister Joanne Schultz.

Please join her family for the celebration of her Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Parish (3501 Oberlin Avenue) at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday May 25th. Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions in Bette’s memory to Stein Hospice.
