Rosemary Stephanchick, 84, Well Known for Her Cooking and Baking Skills

Photo of Rosemary Stephanchick Rosemary Stephanchick, (nee Kargard), age 84, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at her residence during the early morning hours of Sunday May 23, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer that lasted for more than three decades.

She was born in Rocky River on July 17, 1936 and had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood. Rosemary was a 1954-B graduate of Lorain High School. In her younger years, she had been employed as a clerical worker for Ohio Edison.

A member of Zion Lutheran Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher there and was active with the Altar Guild and Mother’s Club.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Rosemary was a long-time member of the LOBO Social Club as well as a Democratic Precinct Chairwoman for the Lorain County Board of Elections. She formerly served as Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack # 313.

Rosemary was well known for her cooking and baking skills. In her free time she enjoyed shopping, watching birds, and playing on-line bingo.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years Ronald, and sons Richard Stephanchick (Gail), Gary Stephanchick (Stacy), and Scott Stephanchick.

She also leaves grandchildren Jon Stephanchick (Tricia), Heather Pagan (Francisco), Daniel Stephanchick (Heather). Jessica Osidach (Chris), David Stephanchick (Tiffany), Hunter Stephanchick, and Hayden Stephanchick, along with great grandchildren Ellianah Stephanchick, Aubree Partin, Amelia Osidach, Adi Pagan. and Xavier Pagan.

Additional survivors include her sister Betty Jean Hayward, sister-in-law Laurie Jackson, nephews Doug and Jeff Jackson, and nieces Pam Jackson and Kristin Rhoad.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Elizabeth (nee Kacsandi) Kargard, a sister in infancy, and brothers-in-law Larry Jackson and Peter Hayward.

Visitation will be Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church (5100 Ashland Avenue - Lorain) from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Reverend William Mugnolo, pastor of the church will preside. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

Contributions in her memory are encouraged to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
