He started bowling PBA regional tournaments and in 1976 was on the regular tour averaging over 200 each season until 1979. His dream ended abruptly in 1981 when a brain aneurysm nearly took his life and left him with health issues that affected his balance. In 2012, he was inducted into the Lorain USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin; the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Elyria; the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, and St Anne’s Lodge. He was actively involved with his church and organizations that helped the community like the Annual Labor Day Festival at Lakeview Park; “Hands Across America” and established and coordinated the Annual Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Bowl-A-Thon and Festival in which all proceeds were given to the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching old television shows and silent movies, fishing and mowing his lawn.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Ann E. Hromada (nee Pittak), adult children: Kathleen Loflin (Patrick) of Wellington; Edward A.
