Yolanda Velasquez, 61, Loved Salsa Music

On June 6, 2021, she left us to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 15, 1959, Yolanda spent her life in Lorain. A family woman, she adored being surrounded by her loved ones. Her vivacious spirit was captivating, and she was the textbook definition of being “full of life.” Yolanda was a dancing queen and artist. She lived for her salsa music and enjoyed car rides, shopping, and antiques. She had a home that everyone gathered around naturally. Her doors and heart were always open for anyone who needed it.

She will be dearly missed by her mother, Edith Rivera and husband, Hector Colon, of Lorain; her children Josette and Jessica of New Albany, Indiana, and Eduardo and Ricardo of Lorain; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her father, Flor Rivera.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10 from 4 to 8 pm at St. John Ukrainian Hall, 3038 Charleston Ave, Lorain, where her funeral service will be Friday at 10 am. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
