Margaret J. Hare, 89, Enjoyed Reading and Crafts
Margaret J. Hare (nee Stephanchick), 89, of Lorain, died Thursday June 24, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain after a sudden illness.
She was born February 24, 1932 in Lorain to Michael G. & Cecelia Stephanchick (nee Chapla) and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Margaret graduated from Lorain High School with the 1950 B class and then worked as a secretary at Hawthorne Junior High School in Lorain from 1950-1957.
She was a member of St Peter Parish in Lorain and volunteered at the St Peter School library. She was also a member of Slovak Catholic Sokols and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading and crafts. Margaret was well-known for her famous chicken soup and chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by her children: Linda McVey (Dr Brett) of Lorain, Karen Fleming (Kirby) of Amherst, Janet Hare (Mark Miller) of Pickerington and Robert J. Hare (Lynn) of Virginia Beach; grandchildren: Shannon Post (Brandon), Dr Courtney Hrdlicka (Dr Jim), Jaclyn Lastinger (Chris), Caitlyn Fleming and John R. Hare; great grandchildren: Cecelia Lee Post, Andrew Brett Post, Shyanne Lastinger and Reagan Lastinger and brothers: Michael J. Stephanchick (Helen) of Lagrange, Kentucky and Paul Stephanchick (Linda) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Hare on July 25, 2017, her parents and sister Agnes Wargo.
The family will receive friends Saturday June 26, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 11:00 am in church with the Rev Craig Hovanec, pastor, presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
