Gloria Maria Ortiz, 72, Loving and Hardworking Woman

She was born August 17, 1948 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Rodrigo & Catalina Muniz (nee Serrano). Gloria came to Lorain in 1957, attended Lorain City Schools making many friends at Admiral King High School.
Her working career began at Lorain Community Hospital and she also worked as a produce associate at Gel-Pak in Lorain. Later she served as a child care provider for Children’s Services and Lorain City schools which she enjoyed immensely. She was also co-owner of Ortiz Grocery and Primo’s Kitchen family businesses.
Gloria attended Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain and was a member of the Legion of Mary, the Cursillo movement and the Blue Army.
Gloria’s grace was that of a loving, caring, warm, hardworking woman. She was devoted to her husband, her children and family businesses. She enjoyed her siblings, shopping for a great deal, music, dancing and was a funny practical joker making many laughs and memories. Gloria will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Primo Ortiz, sons: Primo Ortiz, Jr, Vier (Lori) Ortiz and Enar Ortiz (Jennifer) and daughter Evelisse Ortiz, all of Lorain; grandchildren: Jasmyn Ortiz of Oviedo, Florida, Meah Ortiz of Honolulu, Hawaii, Tahlia Kovacs (Andrew) of Sumter, South Carolina, Celinette Francisco, Zamin, Kian and Vier Angelo Ortiz, all of Lorain; great grandchildren: Shane and Saige Kovacs of Sumter, SC; siblings: Carmen Velasquez (Joseph) of Orlando, Florida, Terri Trinidad (Abraham), Yvette Silva (Carlos), Annette Silva (Elliott), Andre Muniz (Melissa) and Joe Matos, all of Lorain, Jose Gonzalez (Sylvia) of Yuma, Arizona, Rodrigo Muniz Jr (Penny), David Muniz (Rajah), Gladys Muniz Reyes and Gabriel Muniz of Clearwater, Florida and many family across the US and Ponce, Puerto Rico. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Maria Delgado Muniz, sister Manuelita Molly Muniz Negron, nephews Marcus Silva and Jose Bebe Reyes and her favorite aunt whom she loved dearly Victoria Tia Pita Rodriguez.
The family will receive friends Tuesday June 29, 2021 from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing will be on Wednesday June 30, 2021 from 8:30 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain. The Rev William Thaden, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
